About This Scholarship
The Peering Fellowship is a six-month program designed to equip 20 peering and interconnection professionals with skills, knowledge, and tools to address interconnection and peering challenges while maximizing opportunities that grow the Internet. Fellows participate in virtual content sessions and training, culminating in attendance at an in-person peering event in their region (AfPIF in Kigali, Rwanda; LACNIC/LACNOG in Mendoza, Argentina; or Peering Asia in Osaka, Japan).
What This Scholarship Covers
- Round-trip air ticket to peering event
- Hotel accommodation for duration of event
- Fixed stipend for additional needs during event
- Virtual training and online sessions
- Technical and peering advocacy training
Who Can Apply
- 1 Be based or living in Africa, Asia-Pacific (APAC), Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), or the Middle East regions
- 2 Participants from Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States are encouraged to apply
- 3 Have at least 3 years of experience in Internet infrastructure and development, with knowledge or active involvement in network building, operators, Internet routing, Internet Exchange Points (IXPs), peering/interconnection operations, or national or regional Internet policy
- 4 Have basic comprehension and communication in English
- 5 Be able to fully participate in the six-month program
- 6 Be able to dedicate approximately 4-6 hours per week throughout the program and deliver on assigned deliverables
- 7 Be available for virtual content sessions scheduled between 12:00 and 16:00 UTC
- 8 Have reliable Internet connection and relevant device(s) for participation
- 9 Be able to attend the peering event taking place in their region of residence
