About This Scholarship
The SAJHR Bursaries 2027 offer top-up funding of up to R50,000 for postgraduate LLM students at South African public universities focusing on human rights, constitutional law, or justice-related legal issues. This one-time payment from the South African Journal on Human Rights supports Black South African and African students in their first or second year of LLM studies.
What This Scholarship Covers
- Up to R50,000 one-time top-up payment
- Support for study expenses including books and research costs
Who Can Apply
- 1 Must be a Black South African or African student
- 2 Must hold an LLB from a South African university with at least 65% average
- 3 Must be registered for an LLM at a public South African university
- 4 Must be in first or second year of LLM studies
- 5 Research focus must be on human rights, constitutional law, or justice-related law
- 6 Preference given to students from University of Fort Hare, University of Venda, University of Limpopo, University of Zululand, University of the Western Cape, and Walter Sisulu University
- 7 Strong academic grades and financial need considered
