About This Scholarship
The University of Otago offers up to 153 fully funded doctoral scholarships annually for international and domestic students to conduct research across various fields under supervision of international faculty. The scholarship covers tuition fees and provides a stipend for a 36-month PhD programme that cannot be extended.
What This Scholarship Covers
- Full tuition fee waiver
- Stipend (NZ$34,128 per year for main scholarship)
- Monthly stipend for living expenses
Who Can Apply
- 1 Must be an international or domestic (New Zealand) student
- 2 Must hold a Master's degree with at least 0.75 EFTS
- 3 Must be applying for the first time for a doctoral programme at University of Otago
- 4 Usually seeking to obtain first doctoral qualification
- 5 Must have excellent academic records meeting university grade requirements
- 6 Must demonstrate interest and potential for research
- 7 Must have departmental head recommendation
- 8 Must be proficient in English language or provide English language proficiency documentation
- 9 Can only apply and receive one fully funded scholarship
