About This Scholarship

Nedbank’s External Bursary Programme provides fully funded study opportunities for academically strong South African students with proven financial need pursuing undergraduate or honours degrees in high-demand fields, particularly STEM and green economy sectors. The programme supports full-time studies at public universities and universities of technology in South Africa to address scarce skills shortages and contribute to sustainable development.

Who Can Apply

  • 1 Must be a South African citizen
  • 2 Must intend to study or already be studying at a South African public university or university of technology
  • 3 Must pursue an undergraduate or honours degree in an approved field (STEM or green economy-related)
  • 4 Must achieve at least 65% average in subjects related to intended qualification
  • 5 Must demonstrate financial need
  • 6 Must have completed Grade 12 with Mathematics (Mathematics Literacy does not qualify)
  • 7 Eligible candidates include Grade 12 learners, first-year university students, and continuing students

How to Apply

Gather all supporting documents including certified copy of South African ID, academic transcripts or school results, mid-year or latest academic results, signed financial affidavit, bank statements, household income and expenditure details, parent or guardian identification and proof of income
