About This Scholarship

The EDGE Fellowship supports early-career conservationists working to protect evolutionarily distinct and globally threatened species through a 28-month programme combining training, mentorship, funding and technical support. Fellows develop and deliver locally led conservation projects while building real-world conservation skills in project design, budget management, science communication, and community engagement.

What This Scholarship Covers

  • Six weeks of in-person training
  • Support to develop a comprehensive project plan
  • Grant of GBP 15,000 for project implementation
  • Wraparound mentorship and professional development opportunities

Who Can Apply

  • 1 Must be an early-career conservationist
  • 2 Must be committed to leading conservation action for an eligible EDGE species
  • 3 Must be a national or long-term resident of the country where the project will take place with strong links to the specific region or landscape
  • 4 Must be able to demonstrate the local conservation need for proposed work
  • 5 Must be ready to participate in training, mentoring and peer learning as part of the Fellowship
  • 6 Must want to become part of a global network of EDGE Fellows
  • 7 From 2027, at least 14 Fellows per cohort must be from countries outside the G12, EU, New Zealand, and South Korea

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to submit a full application by 12 August 2026

Participate in interviews and final selection (14 September – 1 October 2026)
