About This Scholarship
The New York Public Library Cullman Center Fellowships provide a nine-month paid fellowship for outstanding scholars, writers, journalists, translators, and artists to conduct advanced research or complete creative projects using the Library’s prestigious collections. Fellows receive financial support, private office space, and access to world-class research facilities while participating in an intellectually vibrant community at the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building.
What This Scholarship Covers
- Stipend of $90,000 for nine-month fellowship period

Who Can Apply
- 1 Must be an academic, independent scholar, journalist, translator, creative writer (novelist, playwright, poet), or visual artist working on a book project
- 2 International applicants must be fluent in English
- 3 Must demonstrate that the project requires extensive use of collections at the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building
- 4 Must conduct research primarily at the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building during the fellowship period
- 5 Must not be seeking funding for research that leads directly to an academic degree
- 6 Must commit to working at the Cullman Center five days a week throughout the fellowship term
- 7 Selection based on quality of writing, originality of work, and potential contribution to scholarship and literature
