About This Scholarship
SANSA provides postgraduate degree bursaries to Bachelor of Science and engineering students pursuing honours, masters, or doctoral qualifications in STEM fields to contribute to South Africa’s national target for qualified postgraduates in science and engineering. The bursary covers tuition and living expenses with annual funding of R150,000 for honours, R160,000 for masters, and R170,000 for doctoral students.

Who Can Apply
- 1 Must be a Bachelor of Science or engineering student pursuing honours, masters, or doctoral qualifications
- 2 Must be studying in relevant STEM fields as specified by SANSA
- 3 Must have an academic average of at least 65% for last year of studies or last examination
- 4 Must provide full, official university academic record from 1st year of study including final year or midyear 2026 results
- 5 Must provide official undergraduate university student account statement or official letter for NSFAS funding
- 6 Must provide ID copy certified within 3 months of application submission
- 7 Masters and doctoral students must include a testimonial from a lecturer or proposed supervisor
- 8 Masters applicants must upload draft proposal (maximum 2 pages)
- 9 Doctoral applicants must upload draft proposal (maximum 4 pages)
- 10 All proposals must be signed and dated by the applicant and proposed supervisor
