About This Scholarship

The University of Johannesburg’s Postdoctoral Research Fellowship is a full-time research opportunity for early-career researchers to conduct advanced research across priority thematic areas aligned with sustainable development goals. Fellows are embedded within recognized research entities at UJ and receive mentorship, professional development, and access to world-class research infrastructure while contributing to high-impact research addressing global and African challenges.

Who Can Apply

  • 1 Hold a PhD or equivalent doctoral qualification (NQF Level 10)
  • 2 PhD must have been obtained within the last five years
  • 3 Strong scholarly and research performance record

  • 5 Proven research output or publications
  • 6 Ability to work full-time for the duration of the fellowship
  • 7 Demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary research and societal impact
  • 8 Preference for candidates with international collaboration experience
  • 9 Must not have held a previous postdoctoral fellowship at the host discipline (preferred condition)

How to Apply
