About This Scholarship
The UNESCO/Japan Young Researchers’ Fellowships Programme supports innovative postgraduate research in heritage conservation, sustainable development, and artificial intelligence with interdisciplinary dimensions. Fellows will conduct research at Japanese universities or research institutions from February 2027 onwards, contributing to international knowledge exchange and capacity-building in fields aligned with UNESCO’s mandate.

Who Can Apply
- 1 Be a national of one of the invited Member States or Associate Members (African countries, Small Island Developing States, Ukraine, or Türkiye)
- 2 Be no more than 40 years old at the time of application
- 3 Hold at least a Master's degree or equivalent in a field relevant to the proposed research
- 4 Demonstrate strong academic and research potential
- 5 Demonstrate sufficient proficiency in reading and writing in the language of instruction or supervision at the proposed host institution in Japan
- 6 Have obtained acceptance from an academic supervisor at a Japanese university or research institution who will oversee the proposed research
