About This Scholarship
The UNESCO/Japan Young Researchers’ Fellowships Programme supports innovative postgraduate research conducted in Japanese universities and research institutions for young researchers from eligible countries. Fellows will pursue research in heritage conservation, sustainable development, and artificial intelligence for 3-9 months between February and December 2027.
What This Scholarship Covers
- Fellowship grant of up to US$10,000
- Research stay in Japanese universities or research institutions
- Supervision by an academic mentor
Who Can Apply
- 1 Be a national of one of the invited Member States from Africa, Small Island Developing States, Ukraine, or Türkiye
- 2 Hold a postgraduate degree (Master's or equivalent) or be enrolled in a doctoral programme
- 3 Have research experience and demonstrated academic excellence
- 4 Propose innovative and high-quality research aligned with UNESCO's mandate
- 5 Demonstrate commitment to conducting research in Japan for 3-9 months
