About This Scholarship
The ISA RC09 Best Post-Graduate Student Paper Award recognises exceptional doctoral research in sociology focused on social transformations and development, with winners presenting at the XXI ISA World Congress of Sociology in Gwangju, South Korea (4-10 July 2027). Selected researchers receive a monetary prize (EUR 500 for single-authored papers, EUR 1,000 for co-authored papers), a certificate with citation, and publication in the RC09 Newsletter.

Who Can Apply
- 1 Must be enrolled in a PhD degree programme at a recognised degree-granting institution at the time of submission
- 2 Academic staff or junior faculty members currently completing a PhD are eligible
- 3 Paper must have been written while the author(s) were enrolled in a PhD programme or equivalent
- 4 Papers co-authored with a faculty supervisor or another person holding a PhD or equivalent qualification are not eligible
- 5 Must be a member of both the ISA and RC09 at the time of receiving the award (July 2027)
- 6 Paper maximum length is 8,000 words including bibliography, with abstract not exceeding 500 words
