About This Scholarship

The ASEAN Scholar Fellowship is a five-month research fellowship for mid- to senior-level researchers from ASEAN Member States, consisting of three months in-person residency at CDRI in Phnom Penh and two months of remote collaboration. The fellowship aims to strengthen regional research collaboration, advance quantitative research capabilities, and foster institutional partnerships across Southeast Asia through mentorship, collaborative policy research, and knowledge exchange.

Who Can Apply

  • 1 Hold citizenship in an ASEAN Member State (excluding Cambodia)
  • 2 Hold a PhD in economics, public policy, development studies, data science, statistics, or a closely related discipline
  • 3 Alternatively, hold a Master's degree with minimum 5 years of substantial relevant research experience
  • 4 Be currently affiliated with a university, think tank, or research institute within an ASEAN Member State
  • 5 Demonstrate an established record of policy-relevant publications and applied research
  • 6 Possess strong expertise in advanced quantitative methods, econometric modelling, statistical programming (e.g., Stata, R, Python), or AI-assisted research techniques
  • 7 Have experience supervising or mentoring researchers
