About This Scholarship
FRIAS offers three fully sponsored fellowship programmes for researchers at different career stages to conduct dedicated research within an international academic community at the University of Freiburg. Fellows receive monthly living allowances, mobility allowances for travel, office space, library access, and access to university research facilities.

Who Can Apply
- 1 For Early Career Fellowship: Must have completed PhD within the last 8 years and have at least 6 months of research or study experience at academic institutions in a country other than where first degree was earned
- 2 For Senior Fellowship: Must have completed PhD and have at least 8 years of post-doctoral experience and at least 6 months of research or study experience at academic institutions in a country other than where first degree was earned
- 3 For Sustainable Governance Fellowship: Must be based in an African institution, have completed PhD, have at least 8 years of post-doctoral experience, and have at least 6 months of research or study experience at academic institutions in a country other than where first degree was earned
- 4 Applications in disciplines supported by University of Freiburg are welcome
