About This Scholarship

The University of Edinburgh MasterCard On-Campus Scholarship is a one-year postgraduate scholarship for exceptional young leaders from Sub-Saharan Africa who have overcome significant barriers to education and are committed to addressing the climate crisis. The scholarship covers full tuition, accommodation, travel, living stipend, study materials, and a laptop.

Who Can Apply

  • 1 Must be a resident, citizen, or hold refugee status in a Sub-Saharan African country
  • 2 Must have achieved the equivalent of a UK Second Class (Upper) Bachelor's (Hons) degree or higher
  • 3 Must have graduated from an undergraduate degree with official transcript and certificate
  • 4 Must be 35 years old or younger as of 1 September 2027
  • 5 Must have faced significant barriers to education (social, financial, personal, practical, or health-related)
  • 6 Must demonstrate a track record of leadership and service within their community
  • 7 Must demonstrate experience or ambition in making a meaningful impact in addressing the climate crisis
  • 8 Must not have previously completed a postgraduate degree
  • 9 Must not be enrolled (or apply to enrol) at a separate university whilst on the scholarship
  • 10 No IELTS required for entry
