About This Scholarship
The Harry Frank Guggenheim African Fellow Awards recognize emerging African scholars conducting innovative research on violence and aggression across the African continent. The fellowship provides a two-year support package including fieldwork research grants, mentoring, conference sponsorship, and publication assistance.
What This Scholarship Covers
- Fieldwork research grant of $10,000
- In-person methods workshop on the African continent
- Mentoring from senior African and Africanist scholars
- Sponsorship to present research at an international conference

Who Can Apply
- 1 Must be a citizen of any African country
- 2 Must be aged 45 or younger
- 3 Must be currently enrolled in an accredited PhD program at an African institution
- 4 Proposed research must relate directly to the African continent
- 5 Research must focus on understanding causes, manifestations, and control of violence and aggression
