About This Scholarship
The UNU-WIDER Visiting PhD Fellowship Programme enables registered doctoral students to spend approximately three consecutive months at UNU-WIDER in Helsinki to advance their thesis research on developing economies. Fellows access research facilities, work with leading researchers, prepare academic papers, and present their findings while receiving full financial support.
What This Scholarship Covers
- Travel grant covering return airfare to/from home institution or country of residence
- Medical insurance for sickness and accident during stay
- Monthly stipend of EUR 2,100 for living expenses in Helsinki
Who Can Apply
- 1 Must be enrolled in a PhD programme at a university
- 2 Must have demonstrated ability to conduct research on developing economies
- 3 Must be fluent in oral and written English
- 4 Must possess good quantitative and/or qualitative analytical skills
- 5 Later stages of PhD programme preferred
- 6 Applications from early-career, female, and developing country researchers particularly encouraged
