About This Scholarship
The CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholars Program supports early-career researchers in their pivotal first years as independent principal investigators, offering a two-year opportunity to develop high-risk, high-reward interdisciplinary research within CIFAR’s global research networks. Successful applicants receive CAD $100,000 in unrestricted research support, leadership training, and mentorship from leading international researchers across multiple disciplines.

Who Can Apply
- 1 Hold a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree
- 2 Hold a full-time position at an institution of higher education or research with responsibility for leading independent research as a principal investigator
- 3 Position must include supervising or teaching graduate-level trainees toward degree completion
- 4 Position must be secure throughout the full term from April 1, 2027 to March 31, 2029
- 5 Must have started first post-PhD position no earlier than July 1, 2022 and no later than December 31, 2026
- 6 Research must complement themes and goals of a recruiting CIFAR research program
- 7 Must be available for virtual interview on March 23-25, 2027
- 8 Must hold a valid passport and be able to obtain travel visas for approximately two to three CIFAR meetings per year
- 9 Must be fluent in spoken and written English
- 10 Postdoctoral fellows are not eligible
