About This Scholarship
The Maastricht University NL-High Potential Scholarship offers 18 full scholarships annually for highly talented international students from outside the EU/EEA pursuing a master’s degree at UM. The scholarship covers tuition fees and a monthly stipend, funded by the UM Scholarship Fund and the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
What This Scholarship Covers
- Tuition fee waiver
- Monthly stipend for living expenses (€20,150 for 13-month programme or €38,750 for 25-month programme)
- Health and liability insurance (€700)
Who Can Apply
- 1 Must hold a nationality from a country outside EU/EEA, Switzerland, or Surinam
- 2 Must meet requirements for obtaining entry visa and residence permit for the Netherlands
- 3 Must not have dual nationality from an EU/EEA country or Switzerland
- 4 Must have applied for admission to a participating full-time master's programme at Maastricht University for 2027-2028 academic year
- 5 Must have submitted complete application file meeting all admission requirements by 10 December 2026
- 6 Must meet specific admission requirements of the chosen UM master's programme
- 7 Must not have previously participated in a degree-seeking higher education programme in the Netherlands (exchange programmes excluded)
- 8 Must not be older than 35 years of age on 1 September 2027
- 9 Must have obtained excellent results with a GPA of 7.5 out of 10 or higher on latest grade transcript
- 10 Must agree to become an active UM NL High Potential and UM ambassador during and after studies by sharing experiences at least once
