Overview

The NLNG Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme (UGSS) is a flagship initiative of Nigeria LNG Limited to promote academic excellence and support human capital development in Nigeria. The scheme provides annual financial support to outstanding undergraduates in public universities, helping them focus on their studies and graduate on time.

For the 2026 award cycle, NLNG invites applications from eligible first-year students across accredited federal and state universities in Nigeria who demonstrate strong academic potential and a commitment to contributing to the country’s growth.

What the Scholarship Covers

  • Annual Stipend: ₦300,000 per academic year to support tuition-related costs, learning materials, accommodation and living expenses.
  • Multi-year Support: Funding is renewable for the standard duration of the degree, subject to maintaining required academic performance and other conditions set by NLNG.
  • Recognition: Being selected as an NLNG scholar is a competitive merit-based achievement that can strengthen your academic and professional profile.

Eligibility Criteria

Who Can Apply

  • Citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and currently residing in Nigeria.
  • Full-time first-year undergraduate student in the 2025/2026 academic session.
  • Enrolled in an accredited federal or state-owned university in Nigeria.
  • Age between 18 and 25 years at the time of application.

Academic Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) O’Level credits in one sitting (WASSCE, SSCE or NECO), including Mathematics and English Language.
  • Minimum score of 200 in the JAMB UTME.
  • Not currently benefiting from any other scholarship, bursary or similar financial aid from another organisation.

How to Apply

Step 1 – Register on the portal: Visit the official NLNG Scholarships portal and create an account under the “Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme (UGSS)” program.
Step 2 – Complete the online form: Fill in all required personal, academic and contact details accurately. Ensure your information matches your official documents.
Step 3 – Upload supporting documents: Upload clear scans of your recent passport photograph (no glasses), O’Level result (WAEC/NECO/SSCE), JAMB UTME result, JAMB admission letter, birth certificate, and LGA identification (plus any other documents requested on the portal).
Step 4 – Take the selection test (if shortlisted): Eligible applicants will be invited for a computer-based online proctored selection test. Only shortlisted candidates are contacted.

Application is free. NLNG does not use agents or representatives. All applications must be submitted only through the official portal.
