About This Scholarship
The AGNES Intra-Africa Mobility Grant enables doctoral candidates from sub-Saharan Africa to spend 1-2 month research stays at universities or research institutes in another sub-Saharan African country, collaborating with experienced researchers to strengthen scientific capacity and networking. The grant is funded by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, and includes two tracks: a general grant for all candidates and a special grant reserved for female researchers.
What This Scholarship Covers
- Travel costs
- Subsistence allowance
- Research allowance to host institute
- Maximum grant amount of EUR 2,300-EUR 3,000 depending on length of stay (1-2 months)
Who Can Apply
- 1 Must be officially registered for a doctoral degree at a university or tertiary institute in sub-Saharan Africa at the time of application
- 2 Must be a national of a sub-Saharan African country
- 3 Must have at least one published paper from thesis work in a non-predatory journal indexed by SCOPUS and Web of Science
- 4 Must have an identified scientific host who has agreed in writing to the proposal and work schedule
- 5 Must demonstrate that the work is relevant to development in sub-Saharan African countries and cannot be conducted in the home country
- 6 For Special AGNES grant: applicant must be female
