About This Scholarship
The Roger Casement Fellowship supports candidates from Nigeria to undertake a master’s level course of study in Human Rights at Irish higher education institutes, honouring the legacy of Irish human rights activist Roger Casement. The programme aims to nurture future leaders, develop in-country capacity to achieve national Sustainable Development Goals, and build positive relationships with Ireland.

Who Can Apply
- 1 Be a resident national of Nigeria
- 2 Have a minimum of three years' substantial work experience directly relevant to proposed programme of study
- 3 Hold a bachelor's level academic qualification from an accredited and government-recognised higher education institution with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (first class honour or second class honour Grade 1; second class honour Grade 2 acceptable with substantial directly relevant work experience)
- 4 Bachelor's degree must have been awarded in 2015 or later (within the last 12 years)
- 5 Not already hold a qualification at master's level or higher
- 6 Not currently undertaking a programme at master's level or higher, or due to start one in the academic year 2026/27
- 7 Be applying to commence a new master's level programme in Ireland no sooner than August 2027
- 8 Demonstrate leadership abilities and aspirations, commitment to achievement of the SDGs within own country, and commitment to building positive relationships with Ireland
- 9 Have identified and selected three programmes relevant to academic and professional background from the Casement Fellowship Directory of Eligible Programmes
- 10 Have clear understanding of academic and English language proficiencies required for all programmes chosen
- 11 Must not have applied to the Ireland Fellows Programme on more than one previous occasion
- 12 Be in a position to take up the Fellowship in the academic year 2027/2028
