About This Scholarship
The Chevening OCIS Fellowship is a 5-month research fellowship offering self-directed research on Islamic culture, civilization, and contemporary Muslim societies in a global context. The programme, hosted by Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, is fully funded and requires fellows to reside in Oxford for the duration of their award.

Who Can Apply
- 1 Must be a citizen of one of 22 eligible countries (Afghanistan, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Libya, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Occupied Palestinian Territories, Philippines, Sudan, Syria, Turkey, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, or Uzbekistan)
- 2 Must demonstrate potential to rise to a position of leadership and influence
- 3 Must demonstrate strong personal, intellectual and interpersonal attributes
- 4 Must hold a postgraduate level qualification or equivalent professional training/experience at time of application
- 5 Must have significant professional and/or academic research experience (minimum 5 years)
- 6 Must have good working knowledge of English
- 7 Must not hold British or dual-British citizenship
- 8 Must not be an employee, former employee, or relative of an employee of His Majesty's Government, British Council, sponsoring UK university, or Association of Commonwealth Universities staff (within last 2 years)
- 9 Must commit to return to country of citizenship at end of fellowship
- 10 Applicants who previously received HMG-funded scholarship/fellowship must wait 5 years before applying
