About This Scholarship

AAUW’s International Fellowships support women pursuing graduate studies in STEM disciplines in the United States, with a track record of academic excellence and commitment to empowering women and girls. The program has been investing in international women scholars since 1917 to apply their expertise in service of their home countries.

What This Scholarship Covers

  • Stipend ($20,000 for master's degree, $25,000 for doctorate degree)
  • Disbursed in two equal payments

Who Can Apply

  • 1 Must identify as a woman
  • 2 Must be a non-U.S. citizen and not hold U.S. permanent resident status
  • 3 Must be admitted or enrolled in first master's or academic/professional doctorate degree at time of application
  • 4 Degree must be in a STEM discipline
  • 5 Must begin program on or before September 15, 2027, and complete on or after April 30, 2028
  • 6 Must possess at least one academic degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree
  • 7 Must have minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale for highest degree earned
  • 8 Must pursue full-time study at U.S. Department of Education accredited institution
  • 9 Must reside in the U.S. or country of study for duration of fellowship period
  • 10 Cannot be current AAUW Board member, employee, Review Panelist, or immediate family of such individuals
  • 11 Cannot be previous AAUW fellowship or grant recipient (excluding Community Action Grants or branch/local awards)
  • 12 May apply for only one degree type and single specific field
