About This Scholarship
The Routledge/Round Table Commonwealth PhD Studentships provide support for research projects on Commonwealth-related themes in the humanities and social sciences. Successful applicants will be required to submit a 4,000-6,000 word article for publication in The Round Table journal and produce a podcast on their research.
What This Scholarship Covers
- Award of GBP 5,500 maximum
- Mentorship from a university expert in a Commonwealth country other than the applicant's own
Who Can Apply
- 1 Must be enrolled as a PhD/DPhil student at either a UK university or an ACU member university in a Commonwealth country other than the UK
- 2 Research proposal must relate to the Commonwealth as a whole, have a Commonwealth comparative aspect, or be relevant to more than one Commonwealth country
- 3 Applications welcomed from humanities and social sciences disciplines, with preference for politics, international relations, economics, international history, geography, law, development studies, and area studies
- 4 STEM applicants will only be accepted if research proposal clearly addresses a policy-related theme
- 5 Must be willing to work with a mentor at a university in a Commonwealth country other than the applicant's own country
