About This Scholarship
An intensive one-week Advanced Investigative Journalism Training held in Mombasa, Kenya from 4-8 November 2026, designed to sharpen investigative skills of practising mid-career and senior journalists across East Africa. Participants work directly with experienced investigative reporters, editors, and digital forensics experts to develop real-world stories while building skills in data journalism, source protection, legal frameworks, and digital verification.
What This Scholarship Covers
- Mentorship and editorial support from leading investigative journalists
- Training materials, tools and digital investigative techniques
- Full residential accommodation in Mombasa for the duration of the training
- Return travel support for participants based outside Mombasa
- Certificate of participation upon successful completion
Who Can Apply
- 1 Mid-career and senior journalists with a minimum of three (3) years of active reporting experience
- 2 Journalists who have previously worked on or expressed interest in investigative and accountability reporting
- 3 Staff reporters, freelancers, editors, and multimedia journalists actively engaged in reporting, investigative journalism, or editorial leadership from print, broadcast, and digital media outlets
- 4 Journalists from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Somalia, and other African countries
- 5 Must have a portfolio of published work
- 6 Women journalists are strongly encouraged to apply
