About This Scholarship

The Albukhary International University Scholarship is a fully funded undergraduate scholarship covering tuition fees, accommodation, and living expenses for talented students from low-income families worldwide. This programme supports academically promising students by removing financial barriers and fostering social mobility through access to higher education at AIU in Malaysia.

What This Scholarship Covers

Who Can Apply

  • 1 Be between 17 and 22 years old (local applicants) or 17 and 20 years old (international applicants)
  • 2 Be single/unmarried
  • 3 Have completed at least secondary education (Grade 10 or higher)
  • 4 Come from a low-income household (international applicants: household income ≤ USD 300/month; Malaysian applicants: MYR 2,400 in Sabah/Sarawak; MYR 5,300 in Kuala Lumpur/Putrajaya/Labuan; MYR 2,900 in other states)
  • 5 Must not have family members previously sponsored by the Albukhary Foundation
  • 6 Must be selected based on academic merit, financial need, and interview performance

How to Apply

Create an online applicant account

Select an undergraduate programme

Write a personal statement answering all three required questions (minimum 150 words each) relevant to the chosen programme, including extracurricular activities and financial circumstances

Upload required documents: academic records (secondary school certificates), financial documentation proving household income (including Income Declaration Form), and personal details (age, marital status)

Submit application directly via the portal (AIU does not accept third-party agents)

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview session where socio-economic status, communication skills, personality and attitude, and defence of personal statement will be assessed
