About This Scholarship

Capitec External Bursary is designed to support academically excellent South African students studying full-time in technology, data, finance, and business fields for the 2027 academic year. The programme provides financial assistance, mentorship, work readiness support, and valuable workplace exposure to help students succeed academically and prepare for careers in banking and finance.

Who Can Apply

  • 1 Must be a South African citizen
  • 2 Must be a Grade 12 learner or have completed Matric in 2025 (gap year students eligible)
  • 3 Must be registered or planning to register for full-time studies in 2027 at a DHET or CHE registered tertiary institution
  • 4 Must be pursuing an NQF Level 7 or higher qualification (Bachelor's Degree or Honours)
  • 5 Grade 12 applicants must have achieved a Bachelor's Pass with minimum average of 65% or above
  • 6 Students already in tertiary education must have academic average of 65% or above for latest full academic years
  • 7 Cannot be studying towards N4, N5, N6, Higher Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Master's Degree, or Doctoral Degree
  • 8 Cannot be attending TVET Colleges, Community Colleges, Graduate Schools, Business Schools, or distance-learning institutions like UNISA
  • 9 Must be studying full-time with no undisclosed paid employment
