About This Scholarship
The Columbia University Human Rights Advocates Program is a prestigious fellowship administered through the Institute for the Study of Human Rights that provides human rights professionals with opportunities to strengthen their advocacy skills, expand professional networks, and collaborate with leading scholars and practitioners. The programme is designed for human rights defenders working with NGOs on issues including sexual and gender-based violence, minority rights, LGBT rights, labor rights, migration, health, and environmental justice.

Who Can Apply
- 1 Must be a human rights professional or advocate with demonstrated commitment to promoting justice, equality, and human dignity
- 2 Must have previous work experience in human rights field
- 3 Must be working with NGOs on human rights issues at the grassroots level
- 4 Must not be a full-time student or government official
- 5 Must be employed full-time or part-time while pursuing advocacy efforts
- 6 Must be fluent in English
- 7 Must provide proof of institutional endorsement from their organization
- 8 Must commit to returning to their organization upon completion of the programme
- 9 Applicants from high-income countries will not be considered except those representing marginalized communities
- 10 Must be the sole applicant from their organization
- 11 Preference given to those who have not previously had opportunities to travel and study internationally
