About This Scholarship
Commonwealth PhD Scholarships are for high-quality graduates from least developed countries and vulnerable states in the Commonwealth to pursue full-time doctoral study at UK universities. The scholarships are funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and support research with developmental impact while enhancing individual teaching and research capacity.

Who Can Apply
- 1 Must be a citizen or national of a Commonwealth least developed country or vulnerable state as classified by the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC)
- 2 Must hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification
- 3 Must have strong academic credentials and research potential
- 4 Must demonstrate potential to become an influential leader, teacher, or researcher in home country
- 5 Must be applying for full-time doctoral study at a UK university
- 6 Must not have undertaken postgraduate study outside their home country for more than one year
