About This Scholarship

The EAC Student Mobility Scholarship Scheme supports students from EAC Partner States to pursue Diploma, Undergraduate, Master’s and PhD studies at 28 universities across six East African countries, with 197 scholarships available for the 2026/2027 intake. The scholarship covers tuition fees, examination fees, international travel, health insurance, and research support for Master’s and PhD students, while students cover accommodation and living expenses.

Who Can Apply

  • 1 Must be a national and resident of an EAC Partner State (national ID/passport/birth certificate required)
  • 2 Must apply to an eligible programme at a university in a country other than your own
  • 3 Must demonstrate excellent academic performance per the host programme's entry requirements
  • 4 For Master's and PhD applicants: must hold Upper Second-Class Honours, Distinction or equivalent
  • 5 Must be below 35 years of age for Master's applicants; below 45 years of age for PhD applicants at the time of application
  • 6 Work experience is an added advantage for PhD applicants

How to Apply

Choose your programme from the 164 programmes offered by 28 universities across EAC Partner States and review admission requirements

Prepare required documents including letter of motivation, CV, certified academic certificates and transcripts, university application form, passport photograph, proof of nationality, proof of residency, evidence of awards, and any supporting documents

Ensure foreign qualifications are equated by your national commission for higher education and non-English documents are officially translated

Complete the online application form and upload all required documents as PDFs
5
Submit to IUCEA (do not apply to universities directly); IUCEA processes admissions for qualified candidates
