About This Scholarship

The Feminist Leadership Accelerator for Change (FLAC) is a 12-month transformational fellowship programme designed to nurture young African women as feminist leaders committed to driving social change and challenging systemic inequality. Participants engage in immersive learning, peer dialogue, practical community projects, and professional development across modules spanning gender healing, African feminist theory, activism, SGBV awareness, and climate justice.

Who Can Apply

  • 1 Minimum high school certificate, diploma, or undergraduate degree
  • 2 Between 19 and 25 years of age at time of application
  • 3 Self-identify as a woman
  • 4 Demonstrate a track record of community leadership or activism with focus on women's rights (preferred)
  • 5 Show genuine commitment to social justice and feminist principles
  • 6 Reside in South Africa, Lesotho, Eswatini, Botswana, or Zimbabwe
  • 7 Young women from rural areas and persons with disabilities especially encouraged

Submit Curriculum Vitae (CV) - maximum 3 pages including a description of a time you demonstrated leadership

Submit Motivation Letter explaining why you wish to join FLAC and summarising your activism and community work

Submit Motivation Video (2-3 minutes) outlining your passion for social justice and change you wish to create

Submit Two Letters of Recommendation from community representatives (not friends or family) with their name, position, contact information, and relationship to applicant

Submit One Reference Letter from a former high school educator or tertiary lecturer confirming active leadership role during studies
7
Submit complete application package before closing date of 27 July 2026
