About This Scholarship

The Global South Fellowship Program supports the professional development of early-career researchers from universities in the Global South through visiting fellowships at the University of Birmingham and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The programme enables fellows to gain insight into research organisation, conduct, training, and administration while promoting research collaboration and partnership development.

What This Scholarship Covers

  • Travel expenses up to £850
  • Monthly stipend of £1,500 for up to three months
  • On-campus accommodation (cost deducted from stipend, subject to availability)
  • Support with organising private accommodation

Who Can Apply

  • 1 Must have completed a doctorate
  • 2 Must be an early-career researcher from a university in the Global South
