About This Scholarship
The Harvard Academy Scholars Program identifies and supports outstanding scholars at the start of their academic careers whose work combines excellence in a social science discipline with command of languages and knowledge of countries or regions outside the United States or Canada. Selected scholars receive a two-year in-residence appointment with an annual stipend of $80,000 to undertake robust research projects and skills development.

Who Can Apply
- 1 Must be a recipient of a PhD or comparable doctoral degree within two years of August 1, 2026 start date, or an advanced doctoral candidate in the social sciences
- 2 Scholars nearing dissertation completion must submit degree conferral documentation by June 30, 2026 for August 1, 2026 start date
- 3 Must not hold or have completed another Harvard postdoctoral fellowship
- 4 Work must combine excellence in a social science discipline with command of language and knowledge or expertise of countries or regions outside the United States or Canada
- 5 Scholarship should span traditional disciplinary divisions and elucidate comparative, transnational, or domestic issues
