About This Scholarship
The JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship provides an opportunity for outstanding early-career researchers from around the world to conduct collaborative research at universities and research institutions in Japan for 12 to 24 months under the guidance of host researchers. The program covers all fields of study and offers a monthly stipend of JPY 362,000 along with airfare support.

Who Can Apply
- 1 Be a citizen of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan (Taiwanese and Palestinian researchers are treated as eligible)
- 2 As of April 1 of the fiscal year, have obtained a doctoral degree within six years of the date the fellowship goes into effect, or are expected to receive a PhD by the start date of the fellowship period
- 3 Not be a Japanese citizen or a foreigner with permanent residence in Japan
- 4 Not have previously been awarded and started a fellowship under the JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship Program for Research in Japan
- 5 Host researcher must be affiliated with an eligible research institution specified by MEXT
- 6 Host researcher must be a full-time researcher, or if not full-time, the host institution must judge them able to execute their responsibility throughout the fellow's tenure
