About This Scholarship
The LawAI Summer Research Fellowship 2027 is a fully funded 8-12 week remote fellowship with an in-person week in Washington, D.C. or Berkeley, California (June 21-25, 2027) for international students interested in AI law and policy research. Fellows work under mentors on research projects while engaging with politicians, scholars, and industry professionals to develop expertise in ensuring AI is safe and beneficial.
What This Scholarship Covers
- Weekly stipend of $2,000 (may be higher for exceptional candidates)
- In-person week accommodation in Washington, D.C. or Berkeley, CA (June 21-25)

Who Can Apply
- 1 Open to all nationalities
- 2 Must be well-versed in legal principles governing AI regulation under US law and policy
- 3 Must be interested in AI law and policy research
- 4 Must be able to apply research skills and legal knowledge to AI-related issues
- 5 Able to work remotely full-time between June 14 and August 20, 2027
- 6 Able to participate in in-person week from June 21-25 in Washington, D.C. or Berkeley, CA
- 7 Eligible candidates include PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, graduate law students (LLM, JD), career professionals, and legal scholars
