About This Scholarship

The relAI MSc Scholarship supports talented students pursuing advanced studies in artificial intelligence, data science, and related disciplines at Technical University of Munich (TUM) or Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU Munich). The scholarship funds the remaining duration of a student’s master’s degree based on the standard study period, with applicants required to demonstrate academic excellence and commitment to developing reliable, safe, and responsible AI systems.

Who Can Apply

  • 1 Must hold an excellent bachelor's degree
  • 2 Must be enrolled or in the process of applying to an MSc programme at Technical University of Munich (TUM) or Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU Munich)
  • 3 Field of study must be in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Natural Sciences, Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or related disciplines
  • 4 Must demonstrate genuine interest in reliable AI, including aspects such as safety, security, privacy, and ethical AI development
  • 5 Must demonstrate English language proficiency at C1 level or equivalent, or proof that previous university education was conducted primarily in English
  • 6 Must demonstrate alignment with relAI's core research areas: Mathematical & Algorithmic Foundations, Learning & Instruction, Algorithmic Decision-Making, Medicine & Healthcare, or Robotics & Interacting Systems

How to Apply

Submit Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Submit copies of relevant academic diplomas and transcripts (if degree is still ongoing, provide transcripts confirming expected completion before programme start)

Submit Motivation Statement (maximum 1500 characters) outlining academic interests and previous experience in AI or related fields

Submit proof of English language proficiency (C1 level or equivalent, or confirmation that previous university education was conducted primarily in English)

Provide names and contact details of two referees who consent to be contacted for recommendation letters

Apply in parallel to your chosen MSc programme at TUM or LMU (most deadlines are end of May)
