About This Scholarship
The Rosa Luxemburg Foundation awards scholarships to international doctoral candidates conducting research in Germany, emphasizing social justice, solidarity, and democratic socialism. The programme supports PhD students enrolled at state or state-recognised higher education institutions in Germany or abroad with supervision by a German university lecturer.
What This Scholarship Covers
- Monthly stipend of €1,400
- Mobility allowance of €100
- Lump sum of €20

Who Can Apply
- 1 Must be an international doctoral candidate
- 2 Must be enrolled at a state or state-recognised higher education institution in Germany or abroad
- 3 Must have supervision by a university lecturer in Germany
- 4 Must hold a very good graduate degree
- 5 Must demonstrate social engagement aligned with Rosa Luxemburg Foundation values (social justice, solidarity, democratic socialism)
- 6 Must provide proof of German language proficiency at B2 level minimum
- 7 Must not have been in Germany for more than 15 months at the time of application (unless already studied in Germany or began doctorate/research stay in Germany more than 15 months ago)
- 8 Medical disciplines are excluded
