About This Scholarship
The Faculty for the Future Fellowships support women from developing and emerging economies to pursue PhD or post-doctoral research in STEM fields at leading universities worldwide. Since 2004, over 860 women from 90 countries have received these fellowships to advance scientific and technological progress in their home regions.
What This Scholarship Covers
- USD 50,000 per year grant
- Full tuition covered
- Research funding
Who Can Apply
- 1 Must be female and a citizen of a low or middle income country where women are underrepresented in STEM disciplines
- 2 Must not hold dual citizenship with a developed country (eligibility will be discontinued if citizenship of a developed country is obtained after award)
- 3 Must be preparing for a PhD degree or post-doctoral research in a STEM discipline (Master's level studies are not funded)
- 4 Must be enrolled, admitted, or have applied to a host university or research institute abroad that is well-ranked and recognized for strong research in the field
- 5 Must hold an excellent academic record
- 6 Must be willing to return to home country or region upon completion of studies to contribute to socio-economic development
- 7 Must have a proven record of teaching experience in home country and commitment to returning to: (i) an academic or research position in a STEM faculty, or (ii) become a STEM entrepreneur to resolve regional challenges, or (iii) contribute to public sector using scientific skills for evidence-based STEM policy making
- 8 Must demonstrate leadership skills, active community outreach, and track record in encouraging young people, particularly girls and women, into STEM
