About This Scholarship
The Universiti Sains Malaysia Graduate Scholarship supports full-time research students by funding tuition fees for the first and second semesters, with international applicants eligible for PhD programmes only and Malaysian applicants eligible for research-mode master’s or PhD. The scholarship is awarded on a semester-by-semester basis, with second semester funding contingent on satisfactory research progress and submission of at least one manuscript to a Q1 or Q2 journal indexed by Web of Science.

Who Can Apply
- 1 Must be a Malaysian citizen (for Master's by research or PhD by research) or international applicant (for PhD by research only)
- 2 Must have received a full admission offer from Universiti Sains Malaysia
- 3 Must not have registered as a full-time student at USM at the time of application
- 4 Must commit to full-time research-mode study only (part-time, coursework, and mixed-mode students are not eligible)
- 5 Must not be receiving another scholarship or form of financial assistance
- 6 Must have a confirmed main supervisor at Universiti Sains Malaysia
- 7 For Master's applicants: must hold a bachelor's degree with minimum CGPA of 3.33 out of 4.00 or equivalent
- 8 For Master's applicants: must have publication experience (preferred) in a journal indexed by Web of Science, Scopus, or ERA
- 9 For PhD applicants: must have at least one publication in a journal indexed by Web of Science, Scopus, or ERA
- 10 Main supervisor must have either: (a) at least one active research grant as Principal Investigator with at least 1 year remaining from application date, or (b) at least two publications in journals indexed by Web of Science, Scopus, or ERA as Corresponding Author in the previous year (2025)
