About This Scholarship

The World Bank Group Africa Fellowship Program offers a six-month assignment to Ph.D. candidates and recent Ph.D. graduates from Sub-Saharan Africa to gain hands-on experience at WBG headquarters in Washington D.C. or country offices. Fellows work on research, economic policy, technical assistance, and lending operations contributing to the World Bank’s goal of eliminating poverty and increasing shared prosperity.

What This Scholarship Covers

Who Can Apply

  • 1 Be a Ph.D. candidate in the last year of the program or a recent Ph.D. graduate (within three years of completion)
  • 2 Be a national of Sub-Saharan Africa
  • 3 Have an excellent command of English, both written and verbal
  • 4 Possess strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • 5 Be age 32 or younger by January 1, 2027
