About This Scholarship
The African Research Fellowships 2026, offered by the European Space Agency under the EO AFRICA initiative, provides early to mid-career African researchers with fully funded opportunities to conduct research at ESA’s ESRIN center near Rome for one year. Fellows work on solutions to Africa’s key challenges in climate monitoring, water management, food security, and land use using satellite data, cloud computing, and AI tools.

Who Can Apply
- 1 Must be an early to mid-career African researcher from any African country
- 2 Must hold a PhD or Master's degree
- 3 Must have a strong research background and publication record
- 4 Field of study must relate to Earth Observation, remote sensing, satellite data, environmental science, geospatial analysis, or engineering
- 5 Must have a passion for Earth Observation and satellite data
- 6 Must be able to develop a strong one-year research proposal aligned with EO AFRICA goals
