About This Scholarship
The CERN Doctoral Student Programme enables doctoral candidates to conduct research on their thesis for up to 36 months at CERN, the world’s largest particle physics research laboratory, working alongside world-class scientists and engineers. Participants gain hands-on experience in applied physics, engineering, computing and related fields while contributing to groundbreaking research projects in a truly international and multidisciplinary environment.
What This Scholarship Covers
- Monthly allowance of 3907 Swiss Francs (tax free)
- 30 days of paid leave per year plus 2 weeks annual closure
- Comprehensive health insurance coverage (deducted from allowance)
- Family supplement to subsistence allowance (depending on circumstances)
- Travel expenses to Geneva upon joining (depending on circumstances)
- Access to state-of-the-art research facilities and equipment
Who Can Apply
- 1 Must be a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State
- 2 Must have good knowledge of English or French
- 3 Must be enrolled in a doctoral programme in a relevant field (physics, engineering, computer science, or related discipline)
- 4 Must have begun doctoral studies at the time of application
- 5 University must support participation and agree that research conducted at CERN will contribute to PhD thesis
- 6 Field of study must align with CERN's research areas (physics, engineering, computing, related applied sciences)
