About This Scholarship

The London Met Sanctuary Scholarship supports students unable to access higher education funding due to their immigration status, offering full tuition fee waivers and maintenance grants for undergraduate and postgraduate study at London Metropolitan University. The scholarship is designed for asylum seekers, those with humanitarian protection status, and dependants or partners of people seeking asylum who cannot access UK government Student Finance.

What This Scholarship Covers

  • Full tuition fee waiver
  • Maintenance grant equivalent to UK government Maintenance Loan (currently £13,762 per academic year)
  • Designated academic mentor for support and guidance throughout the degree
  • Support in kind where maintenance support could adversely affect government aid

Who Can Apply

  • 1 Applying to study a full-time degree programme at London Metropolitan University (including four-year degrees with foundation year)
  • 2 Seeking asylum or humanitarian protection in the UK, or a dependant or partner of someone seeking asylum
  • 3 Holding one of the following statuses: Humanitarian protection status, Discretionary/limited leave to remain on human rights grounds (including UASC), or submitted an asylum claim in the UK
  • 4 Unable to access UK government Student Finance (tuition fee loans or maintenance loans/grants) by virtue of immigration status
  • 5 Must progress to the next year of study to remain eligible for the scholarship in following years

Complete the scholarship application form

Submit application to London Metropolitan University by Friday 5 June 2026

The University must support and validate your application for consideration by the scholarship panel

Scholarship panel reviews applications
