About This Scholarship
The Sir Harry Evans Global Fellowship is a nine-month fellowship for exceptional early-career journalists to undertake an investigative project with Durham University and Reuters. The Fellow will be mentored by top Reuters editors, work from a Reuters newsroom in London, New York, Sydney or Toronto, and have access to Durham’s academics and research resources.
What This Scholarship Covers
- Monthly salary of approximately £4,444 per month (pro-rata £53,333 per year)
- Monthly living stipend of £1,250
- One-off travel and related expenses payment of £1,800
- Mentorship from top Reuters editors

- Support from Durham's Institute of Advanced Studies
Who Can Apply
- 1 Must have between 2-5 years of professional journalism experience
- 2 Applicants without current journalism experience but with investigative reporting work in related professional fields (author, researcher, photo/video-research projects, documentaries, exhibitions) may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- 3 Must have very high standard written and spoken English
- 4 Must be able to meet applicable immigration requirements for the placement city
- 5 Applications from all eligible candidates globally are welcome, with particular encouragement for members of under-represented groups in journalism
- 6 AI-generated proposals will be disqualified
