About This Scholarship
The AAN Research Program offers competitive research grants ranging from $150,000 to $450,000 to support early-career neurologists and neuroscience researchers pursuing innovative research aimed at improving prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of neurological disorders. The program enables researchers to launch independent research careers, develop innovative scientific projects, and advance discoveries in neurological disease prevention and treatment.
What This Scholarship Covers
- Two-year grants of $150,000 for neurologists 1-5 years into their careers
- Three-year grants of $450,000 for researchers 6-10 years into their careers
- Funding to launch independent research careers
- Support for developing innovative scientific projects
- Funding to generate preliminary data for larger national grants
- Research laboratory development support
- Research personnel recruitment support
Who Can Apply
- 1 Hold an MD and finished residency between June 30, 2017, and July 1, 2022 for Career Development Award (three-year $450,000 grant)
- 2 Be a neurologist
- 3 Hold an MD and finished residency between June 30, 2022, and July 1, 2027 for two-year awards ($150,000)
- 4 Hold a PhD and defended thesis between June 30, 2022, and July 1, 2027 for two-year awards
- 5 If holding both MD and PhD, completion date of residency will determine eligibility
