About This Scholarship
AIXI Labs Research Fellowship is a quarterly, rolling programme supporting researchers who want to contribute to AI safety research through theoretical and empirical approaches, with fellows undertaking focused research projects over approximately one quarter. Selected fellows receive a monthly stipend of £2,000–£3,500, access to a dedicated compute budget for machine learning research, and close mentorship from leading AI safety researchers.

Who Can Apply
- 1 Must have a research background equivalent to a current PhD student, or for primarily empirical projects, a master's-level command of relevant mathematics paired with substantial industry or applied research experience
- 2 Must demonstrate solid grounding in probability, statistics, information theory, and reinforcement learning
- 3 Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
- 4 Must demonstrate genuine motivation to reduce existential risk from advanced AI
- 5 Ability to engage seriously with AIXI-style theoretical models
- 6 Prior expertise in algorithmic information theory or AIXI is not required
