About This Scholarship
The Roger Casement Fellowship supports Nigerian professionals to undertake master’s level studies in Human Rights, Law, and Governance at Irish higher education institutions. The programme aims to nurture future leaders, develop in-country capacity to achieve SDGs, and build positive relationships between Ireland and Nigeria.
What This Scholarship Covers

Who Can Apply
- 1 Be a resident national of Nigeria
- 2 Have a minimum of three years' substantial work experience directly relevant to the proposed programme(s) of study
- 3 Hold a bachelor's level academic qualification from an accredited and government-recognised higher education institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (first class honour or second class honour Grade 1)
- 4 Bachelor's degree must have been awarded in 2015 or later (within the last 12 years)
- 5 Not already hold a qualification at master's level or higher
- 6 Not currently undertaking a programme at master's level or higher, or be due to start one in the academic year 2026/27
- 7 Be applying to commence a new master's programme in Ireland no sooner than August 2027
- 8 Be able to demonstrate leadership abilities and aspirations, commitment to achieving SDGs within Nigeria, and commitment to building positive relationships with Ireland
- 9 Have identified and selected three programmes from the Casement Fellowship Directory of Eligible Programmes
- 10 Have a clear understanding of academic and English language proficiency requirements for all chosen programmes
- 11 Must not have applied to the Ireland Fellows Programme on more than one previous occasion
- 12 Be in a position to take up the Fellowship in the academic year 2027/2028
