About This Scholarship
The PIBBSS Winter Fellowship is a ~3-month interdisciplinary research program connecting researchers from diverse academic backgrounds with AI safety mentors to develop impactful projects at the intersection of their field and AI safety. The program runs from November 2026 to February 2027 in Cape Town, South Africa, and includes mentorship, community events, and a final symposium presentation.
What This Scholarship Covers
- $3,000 monthly stipend

Who Can Apply
- 1 Must have research experience in a relevant field
- 2 Must be motivated to contribute to AI safety
- 3 Applicants from all countries are welcome
- 4 While aimed at PhD and postdoctoral researchers, substantial research experience regardless of credentials is acceptable
- 5 No specific project in mind is required at time of application
