About This Scholarship
The University of Otago International Excellence Scholarships provide merit-based funding to support Master’s and Doctoral students commencing selected postgraduate programmes, recognising academic excellence, diversity, and leadership potential. These scholarships are designed to support high-achieving students best placed to make a positive impact on society in their future careers.
What This Scholarship Covers
- Master's: NZ$18,204 stipend per annum plus tuition fee waiver for 1 year capped at NZ$35,000 (excludes student services fee and insurance)
- Doctor of Philosophy: NZ$30,696 stipend per annum plus domestic tuition fees waiver for 36 months (excludes student services fee and insurance)
- Professional Doctorates (DClinDent, DMA, DBA, EDd): NZ$32,544 stipend per annum plus tuition fee waiver for up to 36 months capped at domestic rate (excludes student services fee and insurance)
Who Can Apply
- 1 Be applying for first Master's degree (Master's applicants) or first doctoral degree (PhD applicants)
- 2 Enroll in a thesis-based Master's program (Master's applicants)
- 3 Demonstrate excellent academic performance (Master's) or outstanding academic achievement and research potential (PhD)
- 4 Meet the admission requirements of the University of Otago
- 5 Be domestic or international students
- 6 Candidates for professional doctorates are welcome to apply
