About This Scholarship

The UNESCO AfriMAB GRÓ-LRT Land Restoration Fellowships offer fully funded six-month training programmes for professionals from African biosphere reserves at the Agricultural University of Iceland, combining coursework with individual restoration projects. Fellows receive 30 ECTS credits at postgraduate level and a GRÓ LRT diploma while developing restoration solutions tailored to their home institutions.

Who Can Apply

  • 1 Must be a professional from an African biosphere reserve engaged in ecosystem restoration activities
  • 2 Must hold a prominent role in ecosystem restoration activity within a biosphere reserve
  • 3 Must hold at least one university degree relevant to GRÓ LRT's field of work such as ecology, natural sciences, environmental management or studies, or related disciplines
  • 4 Must have at least one year of relevant experience working in a biosphere reserve
  • 5 Must be able to communicate in English (speak, read and write)
  • 6 Must be under the age of 40
  • 7 In some cases, candidates without the education requirement may be accepted if they bring extensive working experience in a relevant area
